Who BMW 330i suits in Warsaw
In Warsaw, the BMW 330i is mostly chosen by drivers who want the car to be a pleasure and not just a way to get around. It is a common pick for a week of meetings in the city centre and Wola with a Saturday drive out of town on a road worth driving. People visiting Warsaw for a few days also book it when they want something from recent model years.
In the city the 330i is nimbler than the long saloons in our fleet, so it is easier to park in Mokotów or Żoliborz. The body sits low, so it pays to slow down for tall speed bumps and tram crossings. Rear-wheel drive gives great handling on dry tarmac, and in winter, on a slippery Siekierkowska route, it asks for a gentle right foot.
At the weekend the 330i is at its best on winding roads, for example in the Masurian lakes or Warmia, not only on a straight motorway. On a longer trip, to Gdańsk or Wrocław, the eight-speed automatic keeps revs low and the car stays quiet. A second driver on the contract costs nothing, so the drive can be shared.
Things worth knowing about the BMW 330i
- The G20 generation was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on 2 October 2018. It is up to 55 kg lighter than the F30 3 Series and its body is about 25% stiffer.
- The G20 3 Series is built, among other places, at the San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico, which opened in 2019 specifically for this model. The plant runs entirely on CO₂-free electricity.
- The G20 3 Series was the first BMW in which you could order the voice assistant that wakes up to “Hey BMW”.
- In the 3 Series, the Reversing Assistant arrived with the G20 generation. It can back the car up for up to 50 m by retracing the path it has just driven forwards. It is an option, so not every car has it.

BMW 330i or BMW X3 sDrive30i (2019)?
Almost the same under the bonnet: both have a two-litre turbo with over 250 hp, an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. The body makes the difference. The 330i sits low, drives like a sports saloon and slips into narrow streets more easily, while the X3 gives a higher seat, a 550 l boot with a big tailgate and calm over speed bumps. BMW 330i or Citroën DS4 1.6 THP 200?
Two cars for people who enjoy driving, in different styles. The Citroën DS4 has 200 hp, a six-speed manual and front-wheel drive; it is compact, slightly raised, and its rear side windows do not open at all. The BMW 330i has more power, an automatic, rear-wheel drive and a much newer design. If you want to change gear yourself, take the DS4; if you want to cover a long route quickly and comfortably with an automatic, the 330i.

BMW 330i or Mercedes-Benz E220 CDI?
Both have an automatic and rear-wheel drive, but they are two different ideas of a saloon. The Mercedes E220 CDI (W211) is a large, softly sprung saloon with a diesel and a 540 l boot, built for long, calm journeys. The BMW 330i is smaller, much newer (G20), considerably more powerful and tighter in corners. For a week of business travel with suitcases the Mercedes is more comfortable; for spirited driving and shorter trips, the BMW.

BMW 330i or Peugeot 308 1.6 THP Automat?
Both have an automatic gearbox, so this is a good pair for anyone whose licence is limited to automatics. The Peugeot 308 THP is a compact hatchback with a 156 hp engine, nimble in town and easy to park. The BMW 330i is a premium saloon with an eight-speed automatic, much more powerful, quieter on the motorway and with a bigger boot (480 l vs about 350 l). For town and shorter trips the Peugeot is enough; for the motorway and business meetings the BMW is better.

2.0 petrol, 184 PS, 300 Nm, rear-wheel drive or xDrive, since 2019
The 320i uses the same type of two-litre engine as our 330i, just in a weaker tune, 184 PS instead of 258 PS. In town the difference is small, but on the expressway and when overtaking the 330i is clearly livelier. If you are looking for a 320i, our 330i is the same 3 Series with more power in reserve.
BMW 320d (G20) or BMW 330i?
2.0 diesel, 190 PS, 400 Nm, rear-wheel drive or xDrive, since 2019
The 320d is an economical diesel for long distances. Our 330i has a 258 PS petrol engine, so it is livelier and quieter in town and uses more fuel on the road. If you cover thousands of kilometres a month you will appreciate the 320d; if you want more power and more fun behind the wheel, choose the 330i.
BMW M340i xDrive (G20) or BMW 330i?
3.0 I6 petrol, 374 PS, 500 Nm, xDrive
The M340i is the most powerful 3 Series below the M3, with a six-cylinder engine and xDrive. Our 330i has four cylinders, rear-wheel drive and 258 PS, so it is slower in a straight line but still one of the most enjoyable cars to drive in our fleet. If you want a sporty 3 Series to rent in Warsaw, the 330i is the closest match.
BMW M3 (G80) or BMW 330i?
3.0 twin-turbo I6 petrol, 480 PS (Competition 510 PS, from 2024 Competition M xDrive 530 PS), since 2020
The M3 is the high-performance 3 Series with the S58 engine, built in Munich. We do not rent cars of that kind, but if you want a 3 Series that is fun to drive every day, our rear-wheel-drive 330i with an eight-speed automatic works for a week in town and a trip to the winding roads of Warmia.

Our 330i is a 2020 G20 from before the facelift, with 258 PS. The facelifted European 330i from 2022 has 245 PS, less than ours, and the previous F30 generation had 252 PS. The facelift mainly changed the headlights, grille and interior screens, not the character of the car.

- The route from Warsaw to Kraków is about 295 km one way and about 3 h 30 min of driving, so 590 km there and back. Renting for 5 days includes 1 500 km, so 910 km of the allowance is left when you get back. Each kilometre over the allowance costs 1.20 PLN.
