The X3 20d has all-wheel drive and a frugal diesel, but over 60 PS less than our sDrive30i. Our X3 is faster and quieter, although it drives the rear wheels only. For winter trips to the mountains xDrive is the better choice, and our fleet has it in the previous-generation X3 xDrive20i.

3.0 I6 diesel, 265 PS (286 PS from 2021), 620 Nm (650 Nm from 2021), xDrive
The 30d is a six-cylinder diesel with a lot of torque, good for towing and fast motorway driving. Our sDrive30i has comparable power from a four-cylinder petrol, the same eight-speed automatic and 550 l boot, but rear-wheel drive only, so it is at its best on tarmac.
BMW X3 M40i (G01) or BMW X3 sDrive30i (2019)?
3.0 I6 petrol, 360 PS, 500 Nm, xDrive
The M40i was the first M Performance version in X3 history, with six cylinders and xDrive, and it is clearly quicker than our sDrive30i. If you want a mid-size premium SUV with a strong engine and an automatic for a week in Warsaw, our X3 is the closest match, with the same interior and boot.
BMW X3 xDrive30e (G01) or BMW X3 sDrive30i (2019)?
plug-in hybrid, 2.0 petrol plus electric motor, 292 PS, 420 Nm, xDrive, since 2019
The 30e was the first plug-in hybrid in X3 history. It can cover a few dozen kilometres in town on electricity, but it needs charging. Our sDrive30i has a conventional petrol engine with nothing to plug in, so it works just as well on the road without planning stops at chargers.
BMW X3 (G45, od 2024) or BMW X3 sDrive30i (2019)?

The G45 is the fourth-generation X3, unveiled in June 2024, available in Europe only with xDrive and with new model names (20 xDrive instead of xDrive20i). Our X3 is the previous G01 generation from 2019, with a stronger engine than the entry version of the new generation.
