Who Renault Espace 2.0 dCi suits in Warsaw
In Warsaw, the Renault Espace is rented by families and groups who want to travel together without being squeezed. Friends going to a concert at the National Stadium and getting home without hunting for several taxis, a family gathering for the holidays from different stations and the airport, or a team on a company training trip outside Warsaw are typical reasons to take one big car. It has five seats as standard, and when six or seven are travelling we fit two third-row seats on request.
The Espace is long, so in the centre it is best left in a multi-storey car park or a Park and Ride car park by a metro station, continuing by public transport. The six-speed manual gearbox and 2.0 dCi diesel make joining traffic on the Toruńska route or the S8 easy, and on the open road it runs at low revs. With a full car, leave more room for braking, as a full load of passengers and luggage adds up to a lot of weight.
On a longer trip out of Warsaw, for example to the mountains or the seaside, five people fit in the Espace together with their luggage, because without the third row the boot is large. With the third-row seats fitted it carries seven, but the boot behind them gets small, so for a week away soft bags are the way to pack. The Mercedes Viano has seven seats built in, an automatic, a 224 hp V6 and a sliding side door, and it is taller and longer, so it keeps its pace with a full load of people and luggage. The Renault Espace has five seats as standard (we fit two third-row seats on request), a manual gearbox and a 130 hp diesel, but drives like a large car and is easier to park. Renault Espace 2.0 dCi or Citroën C3 Picasso 1.6 HDi?
The Renault Espace has five seats as standard, and on request we fit two third-row seats. The Citroën C3 Picasso has five. Both have a diesel and a manual gearbox, but the Espace is more than half a metre longer, more powerful and has a bigger boot, while the C3 Picasso fits into any bay outside a block of flats and uses less fuel when driven gently. When six or seven are travelling, or five with lots of luggage, choose the Espace; around town, the C3 Picasso.

Renault Espace 2.0 dCi or Opel Insignia 1.8?
The Opel Insignia is a large five-seat car with a boot of around 500 l; the Renault Espace is an MPV with three separate seats in the second row, a tall cabin and a large boot, and on request we fit two third-row seats. Both have a six-speed manual. For a fast trip with five people the Insignia works better; when cabin space matters, or six or seven are travelling, choose the Espace.

The Mercedes E220 CDI is a five-seat saloon with an automatic and a 540 l boot; the Renault Espace is a five-seat MPV with a manual, and on request we fit two third-row seats. The Mercedes is quieter and more comfortable on the motorway, while the Espace offers more headroom, separate rear seats and lots of luggage space with them folded. This is the same two-litre diesel as in our Espace, just more powerful and available with an automatic. Our Espace has 130 PS and six gears, which is enough for relaxed driving with a full car, although overtaking with a full load needs planning.

The most powerful Espace IV diesel is a V6 built by Isuzu in Japan, also used in the Renault Vel Satis and always paired with an automatic. Our Espace has a 130 PS four-cylinder diesel and a manual gearbox, simpler and more economical on the road.
Renault Grand Espace (IV) or Renault Espace 2.0 dCi?
20 cm longer version, 4.86 m
The Grand Espace is 20 cm longer, with a noticeably bigger boot when all three rows are in use. Our Espace has five seats and a large boot as standard, and we fit two third-row seats on request. With seven on board, soft bags are the best way to pack, as they fit behind the third row more easily.
